How the Daily Word Challenge works
Every day there is one secret five-letter word, the same for everyone. You have six guesses. Green tiles are the right letter in the right spot, yellow tiles are in the word but in a different spot, and grey tiles are not in the word. Once you solve it, or run out of guesses, you will see what the word means, how to say it and how to use it in a sentence.
Tips
- Open with a word that uses five common letters, such as AROSE, ALERT, ATONE.
- Move yellow letters to a new position on your next guess.
- Remember that answers can repeat a letter.

Frequently asked questions
When does a new puzzle come out?
A new word is released every day at midnight in your local time zone.
Is this the same as Wordle?
No. The Daily Word Challenge is our own independent puzzle with its own words. Many of them are richer vocabulary words, and each one comes with its meaning, origin and a short quiz.
Can I play past puzzles?
Yes. Open the archive and choose Play on any past day. Replays do not affect your streak.
Where are my stats saved?
Your stats and streak are saved in this browser on this device. Nothing is sent to our servers except your guesses, which we check against the answer.
